the Blog Things When Bored Blog

It’s kinda strange - the storming and raining that has been occurring non-stop for the past month or so has definitely taken it’s toll on those living in flood-ravaged towns. However, at the same time that it brings misfortune to these people, and it may seem rather callous of me to say this, others like myself are actually fortunate in having avoided the scorching summer heat. I remember this time last year, I was tossing and turning in bed, trying the fan amongst other things, and when all else failed…the air con would go on. Presently, any of this is hardly necessary - and I even visit the sauna several times each week, as if I’m missing the heat. This is by far the coolest summer I have experienced (at least as far as I can recall anyway).

I suppose life is just sometimes like that. For everything that happens, there’s always a flip-side. Good things may arise from bad things, and a lot of things can be viewed from a more desirable perspective, at least to some extent anyway. I don’t think I can start to imagine how devastating it is to lose your home, to live in muddy water that probably reeks, and to live amongst mosquitoes and flies multiplying at a phenomenal rate (or what it’s like to get struck by lightning like Anna Bligh!) - but I am sure as far as the rainfall is concerned, the suffering far exceeds the respite.
